On Monday, March
1st, Bernadette's father accompanied her to the Grotto for the first time.
There were 2,600 people already there waiting. They would experience a
profound sense of joy for the next 45 minutes during the heavenly
apparition whose beauty was reflected in Bernadette's face.
On that day, the Lady gave Bernadette and the entire crowd this
unforgettable lesson: to love your own rosary—no matter how humble it may
seem—and to carry it on you at all times. As the visionary was using
someone else's rosary, the Lady asked her: "What happened to your
rosary?" Bernadette took it out of her pocket and showed it to the
Lady. The Virgin smiled and said: "Use that one instead."
